Until we become fully aware that the Gift of Choice is innately and eternally ours, we will continue—both knowingly and unknowingly—to hand it over to someone or something, such as a person, a group of people, or even one of the many addictive or destructive products made readily available for us.
Fear and guilt are two of the most used tools on this planet to rob people of their Gift of Choice. Reminding ourselves of this truth, again and again, helps us to stay conscious of what we’re choosing and why. When we do that, we remain the master of our own life, rather than unconsciously giving away our most precious gift to someone—or something—outside of us. And when that happens, we’re no longer in control of our life or our being.
We are the only ones responsible for the choices we make—or don’t make. Not someone else. Not even God.
Why? Because our choices are designed to benefit the evolution of our own soul—not someone else's. We are all evolving souls, in other words, we are all in the process of getting to know all that we are as a part of God. And the only way to know something is to experience it.
Each experience we have here on Earth begins with a choice, whether we realize it or not. And the divine purpose of every single experience is to offer us an opportunity to expand our knowingness of who we really are.
What I Learned About Suicide and Choice
Some of the most compelling insights I’ve learned about choices and suicide came from my divine helpers. Here’s what they taught me:
· Like every other decision I’ve made—or will ever make—the choice to take my life, or not, is mine and mine alone.
· I cannot kill my problems any more than I can kill the true essence of my being, which is my soul.
· No matter how or when I die—even by my own hand—I bring all of me with me back to the spirit world. All of my hurts, joys, disappointments, memories (both good and bad), my character, my wisdom, and my strengths and weaknesses—come along with me. The only thing I leave behind is my physical body, because its energy is much denser than the one of my soul.
· Most importantly, I also bring with me any unresolved or unhealed feelings—like anger, frustration, guilt, or bitterness—that I still carry at the time of my death.
Feelings, like everything else in our world, are energy. And energy cannot be created or destroyed—it can only be transformed. In the context of the Message Art, a “good” feeling is one that vibrates at a higher frequency and is considered light and positive. A “bad” feeling vibrates at a lower frequency and is considered dense and negative.
An unresolved feeling is simply one that hasn’t been fully dealt with—something we’ve ignored, buried, or pushed away. And when we hold onto those unresolved feelings (aka “old baggage”), we carry around masses of dense, negative energy. These masses get stored in our body’s energy field.
Over time, they build up and form an invisible armor that surrounds one or more areas of our physical body’s energy field. Because of its density, this armor blocks the healing energy of love from flowing freely through us—and eventually causes dis-ease or dis-harmony in our body.
The choice of when or if I heal these unresolved feelings—meaning transform their dense energy into light and positive energy—will always be mine, even after I return to spirit. And regardless of what I choose or where I am, I am loved beyond measure. God, or my divine helpers, never judge, rush, pressure, or guilt me into healing anything before I’m ready.
Healing opportunities are just as available in the spirit world as they are here on Earth. If I die without having released all the dense energy I accumulated through unresolved feelings, I’ll be gently and lovingly guided through a Life Review as soon as I return to spirit form.
The purpose of that Review is to help me understand how my personal choices—whether in spirit or in body—either accelerate or slow down my soul’s evolution. I’ll then be given a choice: to transform that energy while in spirit form or return to another life experience, either here or elsewhere, to do so. There is no wrong or right decision, because my soul has all of eternity to remember who it truly is—a unique, magnificent, and powerful part of God.
The Advantage of Healing While on Earth
That said, there are many advantages to healing my unresolved feelings while still in physical form:
· Releasing the negative energy weighing me down improves my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
· Transforming the dense energy created by negative experiences and relationships frees me to create new ones that are healthier and more fulfilling.
· Most importantly, the less dense energy I carry with me back to the spirit world, the faster my soul evolves.
Once I committed to my healing, I was introduced to a two-step process that helped me release the trapped negative energy and transform it into loving, positive energy. This process helped expedite my healing:
Step One – Identify the unresolved feeling. To do that, I had to recognize it first and acknowledge that I was holding onto it. Here’s how Module 10 of the Message Art Study describes it:
“An unresolved feeling is revealed when the memory of a past experience evokes a negative emotional reaction. For instance, feeling sad, bitter, or angry when recalling a childhood experience is a telltale sign that one or more unresolved feelings are still attached to that experience.”
Step Two – Heal the unresolved feeling. Healing happens when I discover the gift hidden within the experience that caused the feeling in the first place.
Every experience we have on Earth—even the painful ones—holds immeasurable value because each one gives us an opportunity to evolve, to grow, and to embody more of our God-like qualities.
The biggest gifts I received through my experience as an addict—what I once believed was the worst and most shameful part of my life—were the gifts of compassion, acceptance, and unconditional love for myself and others who are struggling.
Once I fully unwrapped those gifts, the dense energy of my shame, guilt, and hurt began to lift and transform.
After months of doing this inner work, I was amazed at how much lighter and freer I felt. Decades of pain I hadn’t even known I was carrying began to dissolve. But what amazed me the most—and changed my life forever—was the deep inner peace I felt for the first time... and the profoundly personal relationship I had developed with God through journaling.
The most humbling realization of all was this:My addiction—the experience I believed for years was the worst thing that ever happened to me—actually held the greatest gifts for the evolution of my soul.
Final Thoughts on Suicide and Choice
Here’s a short summary of some life-altering insights I learned through the Message Art and my divine guidance:
· We are not physical beings having a spiritual experience—we are spirits having a physical experience. Our bodies are simply vehicles for our soul while we’re here on Earth.
· Nothing and no one can separate us from God—except the belief that we are separate from God, rather than a part of God.
· We are never alone—not even in our darkest moments.
· Divine help is available to every one of us, 24/7. All we need to do is ask. The help is always sent, even if we don’t recognize it.
· The greatest and most sacred gift given to our souls by God is the eternal Gift of Choice. It was given so we could each become the master of our own life.
· God never takes this gift away—no matter what we say, think, or do. God does not interfere, judge, punish, or guilt us into making the “right” choice.
